And now for the all-important question: What are you wearing for NYE? I know, I know. Christmas hasn’t even happened yet and I’m already asking about the next big shindig. But the fact is, this may be the most important thing you wear all year. It’s the outfit that ends one year and takes you into the next. Hi, no pressure.

Some years back, I decided that sequins were off the table when it came to watching the ball drop. (I think it was because I wound up at a party and I, along with every other girl in a 19 mile radius, looked like we had been separated at birth). The last thing I wanted for myself on the start of a new year was to look like the status quo, so I swore off sequins and decided I needed to find a new way to sparkle.

That’s what drew me into my Kate Spade Be Dazzling clutch. It’s a reminder to not let your dress outshine you for NYE. You be the sparkle, the something that shimmers this December 31.

By all means, though, wear something fabulous. Just don’t let it upstage you. I was attracted to his BCBG dress because it has a Judy Jetson feel. And let’s face it, we’re beelining right into the future. I scored it for 40 percent off the original price, too, at Sawgrass Mills which sealed the deal. Then, I locked in the clutch at Kate Spade, where everything in the store was 60 percent off. And when I found these Schutz rose gold shoes at Last Call Neiman Marcus that matched the verbage on my clutch for half off the clearance price, well, kismet. And voila, my NYE outfit was born (for just under $500 and scored all under the roof at Sawgrass Mills). I had such a great experience, I‘m giving away a $100 gift card to shop Sawgrass Mills to one lucky reader.

All you need to do is comment on my Instagram pic here (and follow along if you don’t already).

Then, follow @Shopsawgrass.

One lucky winner will be picked on December 27 so they can have time to shop a great NYE look, too.

Spend wisely!

In fact, I had just enough left over to score red undies, which, according to legend, you’re supposed to wear when the clock strikes midnight on the last day of the year to determine what kind of year you’re going to have. I’ll take mine spicy—hence the red skivvies. Just no sequins. That’s my own tradition. And I’m gladly going to stick with it again this year.

As for the others, don’t forget to eat black-eyed peas. And kiss that someone special at midnight.

Happy upcoming 2015, whatever your traditions may be.
