In the blocks between Miracle Mile and the Biltmore Hotel lives Coral Gables Gallery Artist Holly A Jones. With a studio in residence since 2010, she produces original fine art and a handbag line dubbed the “ART TO WEAR Collection.” The handbags are made of original mixed media fine art on canvas and lined with raw shantung silk. Bright, bold colors and abstract botanical subject matter painted on the canvas create unique designs on each and every bag, making each bag one-of-a-kind. She is inspired by the lush tropical flowers and foliage that blooms in and around Miami.
As the ART TO WEAR Collection evolves, new products are continuously developing to compliment the handbags. The most popular has been brightly colored, hand painted leather passport covers and matching luggage tags. Staying true to the collection, each one is hand painted and one-of-a-kind. Since July 2013, there have been over 2,400 passport covers purchased by collectors and are traveling the world. With Miami as her inspiration, her art has become an ambassador of the arts for art aficionados and jet setters alike.
The collectors are not only holding a piece of art when they wear the bags, but are embracing their own love for Miami and the arts. Collectors are also embracing social media by checking-in with the hashtag #MyArtTravels and #HollyHandbag. As the line grows, so does an online community of people who enjoy her art work.
