The captain of the Jamaican Bobsled team, Winston Watts, after competing in 4 Olympic Games puts his focus on pursuing an acting career. Watts recently took a part in the new HBO Series “Ballers” starring actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. “It was a great experience working with such a team, I had a role as a bartender”, he says. The series are centered around a group of football players and their families, friends, and handlers.

Watts currently lives in Evanston WY and is looking forward to move into a bigger city where he can get more acting opportunities. “My first choice is Miami. I am visiting at the end of the month and would like to make contacts with acting agencies”, he says.

As a teenager, Watts went to the best Athletic high school in Jamaica where he was one of the best soccer players in the team. Than he was enlisted in the Jamaican Military where he continues his career training in track and field.

In 1993, he was introduced to bobsledding by Jerome Lewis who was one of the team members of the Jamaican Bobsled Team at the time. “I did not know anything about bobsledding before, but it seem good to try. I am not afraid of trying new things.”, he says. Watts started training right away and the next year he went to compete for the first time in the Winter Olympic Games ’94 in Lillehammer, Norway. The Jamaican bobsled team came in 14th. “This is one of the most memorable experiences and achievements for me because it took me less than a year to learn, train and qualify for the Olympics especially in a discipline that is performed on ice and requires a high mental and physical strength.”, he says.

Watts went in the Olympics again in ’98 and 2002 then he retires from bobsledding to focus more on his family life.

In 2014, Winston Watts makes a comeback to bobsledding. in the last Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia after 12 years of retirement where amazingly his team qualifies once again.

Today Watts is focusing on his acting career. I have no doubt that with his resolve discipline and mental strength he will find even greater success in acting and I am sure that we will be seeing him very soon across the screens of America.
