A few months into the creation of The Warship Experience I began dreaming about where I would want to hold the launch. I knew from the start that I did not want to hold the launch event in a church; Too many stigmas attached and it had to be a place that anyone – spiritual or not – would feel comfortable coming to. My mindset was the same back in 2011 when we began planning my CD release party for “Come Away,” which was held at Awarehouse Miami (which sadly no longer exists). We had people coming in off the streets, and that was exactly what I wanted. I knew that this new experience needed to be birthed in a place just as incredible.
Several months ago my band manager, Samantha, and I began scouting out potential places within Wynwood and the Design District. We had meeting after meeting with various people in some AWESOME locations. We finally came to our last meeting and while we had a few minutes to kill, we literally stumbled into
The Light Box.
You see, Samantha has this incredible intuition; She has this inner honing device for all things amazing. Samantha kept saying, “I feel like we need to check out this building over here.” So we made our way over and began knocking on doors and peering through windows. Now, I’m a person who does not like to be late. Being late is one of my biggest pet peeves. At the rate we were going, we were definitely going to be behind schedule. But Sam was insistent, so I just went with it even though my inner time-keeper was getting anxious about keeping someone else waiting.
Low and behold after several minutes of knocking, someone came to the door, let us in and even gave us a tour. When we walked behind the curtain into The Light Box studio, my eyes must have bugged out of my face. It. Was. Perfect. I mean, absolutely perfect. I’m also the kind of person who knows EXACTLY what I want.
I may not be able to verbalize it very well, but when I see it I know (which my husband really appreciates because it makes shopping with me very easy).
Search done. No need to keep looking. THIS. PLACE. WAS. IT. What was even more amazing was that we found out that Calvary Chapel (a Hillsong Family church) hosts their Tuesday night services at The Light Box; The spiritual ground has already been tilled for us through the worship services already being hosted there. Turns out that being late to the next appointment was THE. BEST. THING. EVER.
One of the other things I noticed was the reference to LIGHT. Scripture calls us in Matthew 5 to be “salt and light” on this earth. We aren’t to put our inner light under a basket and hide it. No, we are to let our light SHINE! And shine in a really big way.
So, on November 14th and 15th, we are going to let TWX shine brightly in Wynwood at The Light Box. Can’t wait to see what happens as a result!
